"I learned that my dreams might sometimes be just that… only dreams. No basis for reality. I learned that seeing the world through rose colored glasses had its downside."... so poignant and true! Thanks for sharing :)

Hi Peter! It's Patti P. (Burlington to Austin). I use Allie Dillon (prolific writing cousin from Brooklyn who passed away in the 1920's)... enough about my family tree and on to your soil. And fur ball boulders.

Loved your post. Even though it outlined your difficult year. Heck, our difficult year. Everyones difficult year.

Keeping present? Has. Always. Been. Allusive. Not any more. Richard has cancer. I slid out of the corporate world Nov.2, 2011 to start cancer treatment with him on Nov.4. So far so good. And we're present. Every day.

Quick lovely story on the holiday for you: years ago when Richard worked at BFCP in Shelburne, a co-worker brought his 2 young girls by the sales office to say howdy to Richard. Richard told them "I am honored by your presence." The younger of the two immediately piped up and said, "But Richie, we didn't bring you any presents..." Oh yes they did.

And so did you. With your post. Check out our journey on private (non-indexed site http://RichardandPatti.com). I also post publicly with some of the same but the names are changed to protect the innocent http://alliedillon.com

With fond regards from Austin, TX Patti P.
